Streets & Public Garages

If public charging is your only viable option, the U.S. has approximately 57,000 charging outlets and 20,000 charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles. The greater Indianapolis metro area has 137 along popular routes and central locations.

Apartment Buildings & Office Parks

Many condos and apartments are starting to offer community charging stations for their residents. Additionally some businesses big and small have installed electric car chargers in their garages and parking lots for their employees’ use.

Shopping Centers & Hotels

Two of the newest location types to feature electric car charging stations are retail centers and hotels. These are typically Level 2 (faster) and Level 3 (fastest) chargers which are ideal for a top off while you eat, shop or meet with friends.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

EV Charging

Will charging cost me more than gasoline?

On average, fueling a car with electricity is roughly the same as gas at $1/gallon of fueling with gasoline, thanks to EV’s performance efficiency and the lower cost of electricity. Check out our Fuel Savings Calculator and discover how much you could save in fuel costs every year by switching to an EV.

What if I don't have a dedicated garage?

It's a common misconception that you need a garage in order to charge your EV at home. Outdoor-rated electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) units are safe to use in all weather conditions. Just be sure to check with your building's codes prior to installation.

How far will I be able to drive an electric car on a single charge?

Your total range will depend on the make and model. Some electric cars run for more than 200 miles on a single charge, and some have a range of upwards of 400 miles. Additionally, there are some variables that you, as the driver, can control. Similar to a fuel-powered car, your driving habits and your use of heating and cooling will impact mileage per charge. For example, its more efficient to use your electric car's heated seats rather than blasting the heat. Conveniently, you can use your car's mobile app to pre-heat the vehicle while it's charging.
